She died in 1985 at the age of 85. the Indonesian government now looks after the house and collection which it call the Museum Le mayeur.

This most likely refers to the Petanu River, which runs near the cave through a deep goerge. Perhaps the popular name Elephant originated with early visitor who named the cave after the river other theories that the Goa Gajah is made by the great architects namely Kebo Iwa which carving by his own nail.
